WhatsApp Quick Link Native — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-20
This extension does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on any server. We have no servers, no analytics, and no third-party trackers.
What the extension does
- Scans the visible text of web pages you visit to find phone-number-shaped strings.
- If a candidate passes the parser's format and context checks, replaces it inline with a clickable
https://wa.me/<number> link.
- Stores your on/off and per-site preferences locally in
chrome.storage.local.
What the extension does NOT do
- It makes zero network requests of its own. The link is generated locally; clicking it is a normal navigation in your browser to
wa.me, the same as if you had typed the URL yourself.
- It does not send any data to servers operated by the extension author.
- It does not include analytics, telemetry, error reporting, or tracking SDKs.
- It does not transmit any content from the web pages you visit. Phone numbers are extracted and replaced entirely on your device.
- It does not access your WhatsApp account, contacts, chats, or any authenticated state.
- It does not sell, share, or transfer data to third parties.
Permissions explained
- storage — local storage of your on/off and per-site disable preferences.
- Content scripts on all sites — phone numbers can appear on any website, so the scanner needs to run on the pages you visit. The scanning happens entirely on your device.
Third parties
When you click a generated link, your browser navigates to wa.me (operated by WhatsApp LLC / Meta Platforms), exactly as it would for any link to that domain. Once you are on wa.me, WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies. The extension itself does not communicate with WhatsApp, Meta, or any other third party.
Changes
This policy may be updated. The "Last updated" date above will change accordingly. Material changes will be reflected in the extension's release notes.
